It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Boerne-Champion ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Alamo Heights Mules 5-4. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Mules: they've now won eight in a row.

Mylie Parker spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Torin Tucker was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Abigail Brehmer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Boerne-Champion's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-3. As for Alamo Heights, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Boerne-Champion will head out to face off against Boerne at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Boerne has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something Boerne-Champion will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Alamo Heights, they will take on Johnson at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Johnson will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Alamo Heights surely won't give up without a fight.
