Softball Game Preview: Connelly School of the Holy Child vs. Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers

Connelly School of the Holy Child is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They came up short against Madeira last Tuesday, falling 24-7. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Georgetown Day put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past DC International 22-5.

Natalie Ogden was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Six bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Georgetown Day got a massive performance out of Avery Snyder, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave Snyder a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella Yip, who scored three runs and stole Six bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Georgetown Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Connelly School of the Holy Child suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Georgetown Day when the teams last played back in May of 2024.
