Basketball Recap: Wewoka Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Wewoka lost to Holdenville back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Wewoka Tigers walked away with a 50-39 win over the Holdenville Wolverines. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Tigers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Wolverines are ranked fifth).

Holdenville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kejo Watson, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Kase Sipes, who had seven points.

Wewoka's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4. As for Holdenville, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wewoka Tigers face off against the Okemah Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holdenville, they will head out on the road to challenge Meeker at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
