Volleyball Recap: Plainfield East Find Success

Plainfield East picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They skirted past the St. Laurence Vikings 2-1.

Loss or not, St. Laurence got some senior leadership from Matthew Suchecki and Julius Holtzclaw. Suchecki had 20 assists and three digs, while Holtzclaw had eight digs and two aces. Suchecki is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 13 or more in each of the last six games he's played.

Plainfield East's win bumped their record up to 9-13. As for St. Laurence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11.

Looking ahead, Plainfield East will challenge Joliet Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Steelmen will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Bengals surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Laurence, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Glenbard West on the 26th.
