Basketball Game Preview: Classical Purple vs. North Kingstown Skippers

The Classical Purple will take on the North Kingstown Skippers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Classical is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season.

Classical is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: La Salle Academy, who was ranked first at the time (Classical was ranked second). Classical received a blow on Wednesday as they fell 60-44 to La Salle Academy. The match marked the Purple's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Eliezer Delbrey put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted 19 points. Abdul Evans was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Meanwhile, North Kingstown suffered their biggest defeat since February 5, 2024 on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 88-53 loss at the hands of Lincoln. The loss continues a trend for the Skippers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost three in a row.

North Kingstown's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Classical, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.

Classical strolled past North Kingstown when the teams last played on January 3rd by a score of 74-57. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was North Kingstown's Michael Deorsey, who went 8 for 14 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points.
