Softball Game Preview: Ironwood Eagles vs. Centennial Coyotes

For the second straight game, Ironwood will face off against Centennial. The Eagles will head out to take on the Coyotes at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Ironwood has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ironwood came up short against Centennial on Monday, falling 15-9.

For Centennial's part, they got a massive performance out of Stephanie Olivas-Marrufo, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Olivas-Marrufo has posted since back in March. Serenity Anchondo was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5.

Centennial's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.8 runs. As for Ironwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ironwood has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Centennial struggles in that department as they've averaged .528. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
