Preview: East Ascension Spartans vs. Glen Oaks Panthers
The East Ascension Spartans will be home for the holidays to greet the Glen Oaks Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Ascension has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
East Ascension has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 24 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 53-29 margin over Capitol. Given East Ascension's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Capitol is ranked 239th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Glen Oaks' good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Walker, falling 78-28. Glen Oaks was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-16.
East Ascension's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Glen Oaks, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
East Ascension strolled past Glen Oaks in their previous meeting back in December of 2015 by a score of 30-13. Does East Ascension have another victory up their sleeve, or will Glen Oaks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
