Baseball Recap: Holy Name Drops Season-High Score on Shaker Heights

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holy Name). They never let the Shaker Heights Red Raiders get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Green Wave with their most commanding win of the season.

Harrison Frank looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Holy Name is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Ismael Sostre, Jr. and Ryan Wisniewski did most of the damage at the plate: Sostre, Jr. went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Wisniewski went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Wisniewski a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brendon Preisel, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Holy Name and bumps their season record up to 11-13. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Shaker Heights, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-18.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Name will square off against Orange at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Shaker Heights, they will head out to square off against North Olmsted at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
