Baseball Game Preview: Taylorville Tornadoes vs. Mattoon Greenwave

For the second straight game, Taylorville will face off against Mattoon. The Tornadoes will host the Greenwave at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Taylorville took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Mattoon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tornadoes skirted past the Greenwave 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tornadoes have posted since May 21, 2025.

For Mattoon's part, they saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brendan Prince, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Taylorville's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9. As for Mattoon, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
