Basketball Game Preview: West Johnston Wildcats vs. Fike Demons

The West Johnston Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Fike Demons at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. West Johnston will be strutting in after a victory while Fike will be coming in after a loss.

On Monday, West Johnston strolled past Smithfield-Selma with points to spare, taking the game 64-50. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won seven in a row.

Fike has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were dealt a 90-54 defeat at the hands of East Wake on Friday. The game marked the Demons' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Fike's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for West Johnston, their victory bumped their record up to 7-14.

Things could have been worse for West Johnston, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 73-55 loss to Fike when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can West Johnston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
