Softball Game Preview: Mayfield Wildcats vs. Shaker Heights Red Raiders

The Mayfield Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Shaker Heights Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shaker Heights took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mayfield, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Mayfield turned things around against Nordonia on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Knights, sneaking past 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since March 29th.

Ella Mikesell and Charlotte Hatten did most of the damage at the plate: Mikesell went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Hatten went 1-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most hits Mikesell has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, Shaker Heights came up short against Brunswick on Thursday, falling 10-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Raiders in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost five in a row.

Shaker Heights saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ekko Armstrong, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Shaker Heights' loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Mayfield, their win bumped their record up to 8-14.
