Daniel Bledsoe made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Spring Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Bledsoe was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Williams, who scored five runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Dylan Redden also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Spring Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Dutch Fork waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Timberwolves, sneaking past 2-0. The two-run effort marked the Silver Foxes' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
The result came thanks to Boone Miller's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Dutch Fork saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was L Cesario, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Spring Valley's record now sits at 4-8. As for Dutch Fork, their record now sits at 8-2.
Spring Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Dutch Fork when the teams last played back in April of 2018, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spring Valley since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
