Basketball Recap: Leadership Academy Takes a Loss

Leadership Academy fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Winston-Salem Prep on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Winston-Salem Prep Phoenix by a score of 55-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Falcons have suffered since January 26, 2024.

Despite the loss, Leadership Academy still got an impressive performance from Caleb Foster, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Caden Ryker, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds.

Winston-Salem Prep was led to victory by Brandon Rorie and Khorbyn Bowser. Rorie had 26 points, while Bowser scored 16 points. The contest was Rorie's third in a row with at least ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for Leadership Academy and nudges their season record down to 12-3. As for Winston-Salem Prep, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Leadership Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-48 win against Cornerstone Charter on the 23rd. As for Winston-Salem Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-48 defeat against Carver on the 23rd.
