Softball Recap: Lovejoy Leopards vs. Hallsville Bobcats
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lovejoy can now relate to. They fell just short of the Hallsville Bobcats by a score of 8-7 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 on Thursday.
Gisela Boitmann put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Tess Lynch made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Addie George was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
This is the second loss in a row for Lovejoy and nudges their season record down to 25-13. As for Hallsville, their win was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 35-4-1.
