Baseball Game Preview: Whitko Wildcats vs. Columbia City Eagles

The Whitko Wildcats will take on the Columbia City Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Whitko is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Whitko took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Wabash by a score of 5-2.

Riley Harman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Whitko is undefeated when Harman allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Harman was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Harman wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ethen Morris, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was Morris' first of the season.

Leo hit Columbia City with a 11-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles lost 19-3 to the Lions. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Henry Kneller was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Trickle, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

Columbia City's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Whitko, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
