Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Glenns Ferry

Glenns Ferry waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Lighthouse Christian Lions by a score of 6-2. This was a revenge game for the Pilots: when they faced off against the Lions last Wednesday, they had to take a 16-12 defeat.

Alan Mesillas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last seven matchups. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with seven stolen bases and three runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last six games he's played.

In other batting news, Junior Sanchez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 11 contests. Another player making a difference was Payton Reynolds, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The win got Glenns Ferry back to even at 10-10-1. As for Lighthouse Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Glenns Ferry will square off against Garden Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pilots are facing the Wolverines at the right time seeing as the Wolverines are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lighthouse Christian, they will challenge Rimrock at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
