Baseball Recap: Oriskany Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Oriskany won against Little Falls last Friday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Skyhawks walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Sauquoit Valley Indians. The win was nothing new for the Skyhawks as they're now sitting on three straight.

Eddie Wright and Dean Koenig made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Wright struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Koenig didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Wright has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Wright got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Koenig went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nick Hays was excellent, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

Oriskany's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Sauquoit Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Oriskany will venture away from home to square off against West Canada Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sauquoit Valley, they will welcome Westmoreland at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
