Football Game Preview: Southlake Carroll Dragons vs. Northwest Texans

The Southlake Carroll Dragons will square off against the Northwest Texans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Southlake Carroll's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Southlake Carroll is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat V.R. Eaton 66-7. The victory continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.

Angelo Renda continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 305 yards and three touchdowns while completing 88.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 38 yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in December of 2024. Davis Penn was another key player, rushing for 50 yards and three scores.

Meanwhile, Northwest played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Keller Central, falling 37-17. The matchup marked the Texans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Although Northwest took the loss, they still got scores from Caris Sela and Jaylin Mathis.

Northwest didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Nic Curley.

Northwest's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Southlake Carroll, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

Everything came up roses for Southlake Carroll against Northwest in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 48-7 victory. In that game, the Dragons amassed a halftime lead of 28-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
