Softball Recap: Forest Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Forest made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lecanto, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Forest Wildcats were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over the Lecanto Panthers on Friday. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 7-1 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Reagan Quinn made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Quinn was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other pitching news, Makenna Boyd looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Forest got a massive performance out of Rilynn Fountain, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Fountain has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Prestipino, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and one double.

Forest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lecanto only posted a batting average of .308.

The win (which was Forest's third in a row) raised their record to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lecanto, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats face off against the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Buchholz is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season. As for Lecanto, they will venture away from home to take on Citrus at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Citrus also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 7.4 runs per game.
