Basketball Recap: Waco Comes Up Short

Waco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Chaparral Bobcats, falling 60-37. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-53 on January 7th.

Despite the loss, Waco saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aaziyah Degrate posted 20 points along with four steals and three blocks. Degrate has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times she's played. Shamiah Taylor was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Waco's defeat dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Chaparral, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season.

Waco has already played their next contest, a 57-53 victory against Lake Belton on the 28th. As for Chaparral, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-28 win against Belton on the 28th.
