Volleyball Recap: Yelm Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Yelm was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Spanaway Lake Sentinels. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tornados of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Spanaway Lake scored at least 21 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Yelm still got an impressive performance from Rylee Hominda, who had 20 assists and 12 digs.

Spanaway Lake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keileana Sablan-Douglas led the charge by getting 21 digs and one assist. Those 21 digs gave Sablan-Douglas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Scarlett Wilson, who had nine digs and three aces.

Yelm's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Spanaway Lake, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Yelm wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Rogers on the 8th. As for Spanaway Lake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Puyallup on the 8th.
