Basketball Recap: Shelby Valley Takes a Loss

After flying high against Mountain Mission last Saturday, Shelby Valley came back down to earth. The Shelby Valley Wildcats took a blow against the Pikeville Panthers on Wednesday, falling 76-48. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent loss being a 77-51 defeat back in February.

Shelby Valley moved to 5-13 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.7 points on average over those games. As for Pikeville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Shelby Valley has already played their next contest, a 69-61 loss against Floyd Central on the 1st. As for Pikeville, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers challenge the Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
