Softball Recap: Moorefield Gets the Win

Moorefield took a 16-run defeat the last time they faced off against Musselman, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Yellow Jackets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Applemen on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellow Jackets have posted since April 6th.

Moorefield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Musselman, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Looking ahead, Moorefield will square off against Hampshire at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.07 runs per game on average), something the Yellow Jackets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Musselman, they have already played their next game, a 9-1 defeat against Spring Mills on the 21st.
