Baseball Recap: IMG Academy White Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for IMG Academy White, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons with a sharp 10-1 victory on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Ascenders also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2019.

IMG Academy White got a great performance from Brennan Sink as he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. What's more, Sink posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Owen Armstead, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for IMG Academy White: the team is 6-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise.

IMG Academy White is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-15.

IMG Academy White does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, they will welcome St. Francis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
