Basketball Recap: Seward Park Comes Up Short

Seward Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a hard 46-28 fall against Laguardia. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 418th, while Laguardia are ranked 174th).

Seward Park's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Laguardia, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Seward Park and Irving will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 4:30 p.m. on January 28th. Seward Park is facing Irving at the right time seeing as Irving is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Laguardia, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Graphics at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. Laguardia will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: Graphics will have lost five straight heading into Monday's game.
