North Fork had won three straight road games and Alyssa Lovelace did her part to make it four on Friday. The North Fork Miners managed a 49-43 win over the Peyton Panthers for which the team can thank Lovelace, who shot 70% from the field en route to 15 points and six boards. Those 70% field goal percentage gave her a new career-high.
The team also got some help courtesy of Meri Hollembeak, who posted ten points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.
ArRhiya Brown and Maysn Gregg certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Brown dropped a double-double with ten points and 16 boards, while Gregg had 12 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. Brown continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mckinley Nickell, who scored seven points.
North Fork has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.4 points over those games. Peyton's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-10.
Looking ahead, North Fork will face off against Calhan at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Calhan will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something North Fork surely won't give up without a fight. As for Peyton, they will host Cedaredge at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
