Baseball Recap: Woodland Bobcats vs. Fayetteville Wolves

Woodland took a 22-run loss the last time they faced off against Fayetteville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bobcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolves on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bobcats have posted since April 5, 2024.

Cade Cross spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has become a key player for Woodland: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Andrew Sanchez was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Eden Ray also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Woodland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fayetteville only posted a batting average of .192.

Woodland is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Fayetteville, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-9.
