Volleyball Game Preview: Salida Spartans vs. St. Mary's Pirates + How To Watch

The Salida Spartans will challenge the St. Mary's Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Salida will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Salida earned a 3-1 victory over Woodland Park.

Salida was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-14, 22-25, 25-21, 25-20.

Salida had a senior duo take command as Cooper Fisher had 26 digs and one assist and Kaylee Johnson had eight digs and four aces. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last five games she's played.

St. Mary's not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 16th (when they won 3-0). They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over James Irwin. The game was the first time the Pirates have beaten the Jaguars on their court since October 30, 2019.

St. Mary's walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-13, 25-17.

Salida's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for St. Mary's, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Salida has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.5 aces per game. However, it's not like St. Mary's struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Salida came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Mary's in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
