Baseball Game Recap: Larkin Royals vs. Bartlett Hawks

Larkin extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-18 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-1 to the Bartlett Hawks, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Monday.

As for Bartlett, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13-1. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly ten runs.

For Bartlett's part, Joe Kennedy spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up six Ks. Kennedy has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Austin Daubenmire and Josh Colaizzi did most of the damage at the plate: Daubenmire got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Colaizzi went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. What's more, Daubenmire posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. Ethan Ratajczyk also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Larkin and Bartlett could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Royals (ranked 543rd) will meet Glenbard East (ranked 152nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bartlett will challenge Riverside-Brookfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (288 vs. 105).
