Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Hancock Royals vs. Tri Titans

The Eastern Hancock Royals will venture away from home to face off against the Tri Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Monroe Central hit Eastern Hancock with a four-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Royals took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Bears.

Eastern Hancock saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Jenkins, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Jenkins is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Hayden Rouse was another, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Tri was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against North Decatur, falling 15-2.

Tri's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Eastern Hancock, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Eastern Hancock has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tri struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Eastern Hancock took their victory against Tri in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
