Recap: Cholla Chargers vs. Desert View Jaguars

In what's become a running theme this season, the Cholla Chargers gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They breezed by Desert View at home to the tune of 88-40. Given Cholla's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Desert View is ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cholla to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jerry Mendoza, who scored 18 points along with five assists and five steals. Mendoza has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cyree Jenkins, who scored 18 points along with six assists and three steals.

Cholla's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Desert View, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cholla won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cienega at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Cienega has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Desert View won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. One thing working in Mountain View's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games.
