Volleyball Recap: Valeria Castro and Aniyah Sanchez Secure Win for All Saints' Academy

All Saints' Academy proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Auburndale Bloodhounds. The win continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Bloodhounds: they've now won eight in a row.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (107-103) All Saints' Academy actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 30-28, 17-25, 16-25, 25-23, 15-6.

All Saints' Academy was led to victory by Aniyah Sanchez and Valeria Castro. Sanchez had 53 digs and four aces, while Castro had 17 digs and 16 assists. Those 53 digs gave Sanchez a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: All Saints' Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive matches.

All Saints' Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Auburndale, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 4-3.

Coming up, All Saints' Academy will take on Bartow in a tournament on Friday. As for Auburndale, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Lake Region on the 12th.
