Volleyball Recap: Jonesport-Beals Gets the Win

Jonesport-Beals won the last time they faced Bucksport and things went their way on Thursday too. The Royals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Golden Bucks. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Royals.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Jonesport-Beals got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-4.

Several Golden Bucks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marina Keene, who had 13 digs and eight aces. Keene has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last eight times she's played. Lucia Ferreira was another key player, getting 14 digs, six aces, and five kills.

The win got Jonesport-Beals back to even at 2-2. As for Bucksport, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jonesport-Beals will head out to face off against Sumner at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bucksport, they will venture away from home to challenge George Stevens Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
