Baseball Game Preview: Campbell County Cougars vs. Oneida Indians

The Campbell County Cougars will square off against the Oneida Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Campbell County fell victim to West and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Rebels, falling 16-0. The Cougars have struggled against the Rebels recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Carter hit Oneida with a seven-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians lost 16-6 to the Green Hornets. While the Indians didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Green Hornets 6-2 in the first period.

Ben Sexton was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Calvin Smith also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Oneida's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Campbell County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Campbell County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Oneida struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
