Basketball Game Preview: Stevenson Patriots vs. Prospect Knights

The Stevenson Patriots will head out to face off against the Prospect Knights at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Prospect will be up against a hot Stevenson team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Stevenson was the clear victor by a 44-23 margin over York on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Patriots have posted since January 14th.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Prospect over Hoffman Estates in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Prospect blew Hoffman Estates out of the water with a 73-18 final score. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Stevenson better focus on containing Angelina Falls and Allison Linke as the pair were huge in Prospect's win. Falls went 5 of 6 en route to 14 points, while Linke posted nine points along with five assists and five steals. Falls continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Carroll, who put up 14 points.

Prospect smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Prospect has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. As for Stevenson, their record now sits at 18-10.

Stevenson ended up a good deal behind Prospect in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, losing 73-58. Can Stevenson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
