South Salem put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the McNary Celtics an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Saxons, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

South Salem got a great performance from Luke Erwin as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Erwin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kevin Semm was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jackson Buckingham, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

South Salem always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McNary only posted an OBP of .062.

South Salem pushed their record up to 12-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for McNary, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

South Salem will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Celtics: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
