Softball Recap: Riverview Beats Chelsea for Their Fourth Straight Win

Riverview came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Chelsea Bulldogs with a sharp 11-4 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.

Makayla Raymond spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Megan Southward was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Salinas, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Riverview lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since May 2nd.

Riverview's victory bumped their record up to 26-8-1. As for Chelsea, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Coming up, Riverview will head out to take on Flat Rock at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. Chelsea does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
