Softball Recap: Charter Oak Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Charter Oak put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Rowland Raiders a 17-0 shutout. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.

Leila Diebert was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Jayla Brown was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mikayla Diebert, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Charter Oak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Charter Oak pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Rowland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5-1.

Charter Oak will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
