Football Game Preview: South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville Ponies vs. Galva Wildcats

The South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville Ponies will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Galva Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Martinsville, who was ranked 17th at the time (South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville was ranked second). The Ponies blew past the Bluestreaks 52-16 on Saturday. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Ponies just coasted through the last quarter.

South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville had a senior duo take command as George Bailey rushed for 124 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries and Brodey Vanhooser rushed for 66 yards and a pair of scores. South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 298 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Marshal Brandon and Ian Dial, who each picked up one interception apiece.

The Wildcats blew past West Prairie/Southeastern, posting a 55-22 win. The Wildcats' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville's record is now 9-0. As for Galva, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
