Basketball Recap: Walnut Springs Hornets vs. Morgan Eagles
After a string of three wins, the Walnut Springs Hornets's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. The matchup between them and Morgan wasn't particularly close, with Walnut Springs falling 59-44. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Walnut Springs of the 46-33 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Morgan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adrian Alonzo, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Alonzo has scored at least a third of Morgan's points. Another player making a difference was Zach Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 18 rebounds.
Walnut Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Morgan, they pushed their record up to 20-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Covington the next time they take the court. Morgan will head out to face Covington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Walnut Springs will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
