Preview: Victor Pirates vs. Valley Christian Eagles
Victor is 1-0 against Valley Christian since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Victor Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Valley Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Victor is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Victor fell victim to Troy's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Trojans at home and fell 38-0.
Meanwhile, Valley Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak dating back to last season on Friday. They took a 34-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arlee. The match was a 6-6 toss-up at halftime, but Valley Christian was outscored by Arlee in the second.
Despite the defeat, Valley Christian had strong showings from Daniel Stoltsfus, who rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown, and Nicholas Karvandi, who picked up 51 receiving yards and a touchdown. Brayden Mccoy also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Victor's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-7 Troy and 2-5 Darby (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32.7% over those games). Having lost for the first time this season, Valley Christian fell to 6-1.
Victor took their win against Valley Christian when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 48-22. Will Victor repeat their success, or does Valley Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
