Baseball Game Preview: Northside Rams vs. Oak Grove Tigers

The Northside Rams will venture away from home to take on the Oak Grove Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Northside will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Gordo, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rams put the hurt on the Green Wave with a sharp 11-2 win on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Oak Grove had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Knights.

Weston Hyche and Brody Black made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Hyche pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Black tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Hyche scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Black scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases Black has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Kyler Pollastrini was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Olen Bryant was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Oak Grove's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Northside, their record now sits at 21-8-1.
