West Laurens extends road losing streak to six

Recap: West Laurens Raiders vs. East Laurens Falcons

The West Laurens Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Laurens. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Laurens in their matchups with East Laurens: they've now lost six in a row.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jumarie Hill, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nasire Jones, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.

West Laurens' loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for East Laurens, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Laurens will take on Spalding at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Spalding is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for East Laurens, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Bleckley County at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Bleckley County is ranked 119th, while East Laurens is ranked 111th).
