Game recap: Ithaca High School Football Team defeats Valley Lutheran

ITHACA, Mich. - A big 28-point first quarter helped carry the Yellowjackets to a 49-0 victory over Valley Lutheran (Saginaw, Mich.) on Saturday.

Ithaca scored on a touchdown pass by Travis Smith to Aaron Barnes, a Smith touchdown pass to Logan Hessbrook, a kick return touchdown by Eli Villalobos and a touchdown run by Bryan Shaw in the quarter.

After taking the lead on a Smith touchdown pass to Barnes in the first quarter, IHS was up 42-0 at the half.

The Yellowjackets grew their lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. Ithaca scored once in the quarter on a Jacob Smith touchdown run.

With the win IHS extended its winning streak to six games. Ithaca defeated Carrollton 49-14 last week.

Ithaca's standout player in the win was Smith. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.



Ithaca had given up an average of 6.6 points prior to the contest. Valley Lutheran's zero points were well below their season average of 23.6 per game.

The loss comes after Valley Lutheran defeated St. Louis 18-15 last week.

In a Tri-Valley - West game next week Ithaca (6-0) takes on Michigan Lutheran Seminary, and Valley Lutheran (1-5) will go up against Breckenridge also in a Tri-Valley - West game.
