Softball Recap: Lutheran North Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Lutheran North had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 8-5 win the Blue Devils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Megan Rocker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Priscilla Guthrie, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in June of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Wodowski, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Lutheran North hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.

Lutheran North's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Grosse Pointe South, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-4.

Looking ahead, Lutheran North will host Yale at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grosse Pointe South, they will face off against Marine City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
