Baseball Game Preview: Poly Engineers vs. Douglass Mighty Ducks

The Poly Engineers will head out to face off against the Douglass Mighty Ducks at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Poly's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Douglass' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Poly's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Carver Vo-Tech as they made off with a 17-0 win. The Engineers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 11 runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Douglass made sure to put some runs up on the board against Forest Park on Monday. The Mighty Ducks came out on top against the Foresters by a score of 16-11. The victory continues a trend for the Mighty Ducks in their matchups with the Foresters: they've now won six in a row.

Wilmer Rivero made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). Rivero was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Douglass got a massive performance out of Kevin Roche-Ramos, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. Roche-Ramos has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Luis Gonzales, who went 2-for-3 with six stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Poly's record now sits at 6-2. As for Douglass, their record is now 4-1.
