Football Game Preview: Orono Riots vs. Washington Academy Raiders

The Orono Riots will head out to take on the Washington Academy Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Orono's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four games.

Orono is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Mount Desert Island, who was ranked tenth at the time (Orono was ranked ninth). The Riots came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 34-22 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Washington Academy took a blow against Houlton on Friday, falling 48-6. The loss continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Shiretowners: they've now lost four in a row.

Orono's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Washington Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything went Orono's way against Washington Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Orono made off with a 44-22 victory. Will the Riots repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
