Volleyball Recap: Carlsbad Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Mira Costa

On Saturday, Carlsbad faced Mira Costa in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Carlsbad Lancers fell 2-0 to the Mira Costa Mustangs. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Roman Payne paced Carlsbad's offense, picking up ten kills. Payne got some help from Ben Sauerwine and his 23 assists.

Carlsbad's defeat dropped their record down to 15-2. As for Mira Costa, the win keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.

Carlsbad has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against San Dieguito Academy on the 11th. As for Mira Costa, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Loyola on the 8th.
