Baseball Recap: Forrest County Agricultural Takes a Loss

Forrest County Agricultural was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Poplarville Hornets. That's two games in a row now that the Aggies have lost by just one run.

Lee Roberts III put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Roberts III was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Parks Brock made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Forrest County Agricultural's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Landen Grice was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Forrest County Agricultural's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Poplarville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Forrest County Agricultural will face off against Gautier at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Poplarville, they will be playing at home against Hattiesburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hattiesburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
