Mercyhurst Prep waltzed into their contest on Saturday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They managed a 57-52 victory over the Warren Dragons. That's two games straight that the Lakers have won by exactly five points.

Alex Manendo was his usual excellent self, putting up 14 points. Another player making a difference was Tanner Ashton, who posted 16 points and eight rebounds.

Mercyhurst Prep pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Warren, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-4 record.

Mercyhurst Prep and Warren should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Mercyhurst Prep will square off against Youngsville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 301 places (172 vs. 473). Mercyhurst Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68 points per game this season. Similarly, Warren (ranked 112th) will meet Franklin (ranked 324th) at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
